Dear Families,
College Counseling is an integral part of our high school student's education. The Academic Counselor meets with high school students frequently to discuss career planning, course selection, and university applications. DIS uses Cialfo as our university planning platform. As such, the counselor can work together with families to plan and guide each student's path for college applications. We chose this platform because it is a wonderful tool to keep the college planning experience smooth and clear, while at the same time, being personalized, comprehensive, and data-driven. Students will have access to Cialfo in grade 9 and will add their parents' email address to their account. Once parents receive the email with their account details, please explore Cialfo to become familiar with this platform as soon as possible. We hope this takes some of the stress away from career exploration and application preparation! As always, please feel free to meet with me at any time.
Sincerely,
Sarah Jolly

The DIS College Counseling Program helps students prepare strong university applications informed by interest inventories, career aptitude assessments, and in-depth discussions of various post- secondary options. Through the support of DIS counseling, teachers, and parents, students will learn self-awareness as they progress through interest inventories, create their resumes, draft their personal essays, and research different universities. Our College Counseling Program aims to provide students and their families with personalized support and help students build skills that will be transferable to college life and beyond.
Grade 9 진로탐색
Grade 10 시험 및 포트폴리오 준비
Grade 11 지원계획 및 진로 점검
Students will receive specialized instruction on creating their college list and the academic preparation necessary for senior year. They will also create their standardized testing plans and review them with the counselor to ensure alignment with their university application plans. DIS Juniors will revisit their career and personal profile inventories from the previous years to shape their college application strategy for senior year.
Grade 12 대학 입학 지원
Students will benefit from regularly scheduled one-on-one counseling sessions throughout their final year at DIS. The counseling department will collaborate extensively with students, families, and teachers to create a cohesive application plan for each student. Students will be guided through essay writing sessions, college visits, college planning presentations, and seminars sponsored by the counseling department. Students will also receive guidance for finding colleges suited to their strengths to ensure best fit, and will receive priority counseling for standardized test preparation.
For Parents:
In addition to Cialfo, the counselor provides College Information Sessions for parents in order to keep them updated on the college application process. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to make appointments with the counselor to ask questions and create a plan specific to their child and the family.
For Students:
The counselor meets with students by grade to give information regarding the college application process. Additionally, the counselor meets with students individually to discuss high school course selection, college planning, personal statements and supplementary essays, tasks, and deadlines. Each grade also has their own Google Classroom where students can find information pertaining to university preparation.
