Meet Ms. Downie

I love being able to watch the children I teach grow and thrive at DIS. The parents are very involved and eager to help in and out of our classroom. My fellow colleagues have been a constant source of encouragement and support.

As a teacher, DIS students are so much fun to teach. They are inquisitive, creative, and value their educational experience. As a parent of a DIS student, I appreciate how happy my daughter has been at the school. She has grown in so many ways thanks to the variety of educational experiences and activities that DIS has to offer.

Meet Mrs. Vis

I consider the DIS community to be my family; my colleagues continuously enlighten my perceptions, the DIS families are invested and supportive of their child's education, and the students bring such light into each day. My students also challenge me to join them in striving towards new heights of understanding. In this position, I am constantly growing as an educator and as a human being alongside the DIS community members, and I am forever grateful to be in such a wonderful learning environment!

I am honored to teach at DIS where our school community not only supports our students educationally, but supports them in pursuing their interests that will help make them well rounded individuals that will go out into the world and do great things.

The best part about DIS has been watching students over the years grow in intelligence and success. I feel fortunate to be surrounded each day by such brilliant students.

DIS is lucky to have such an amazing community of teachers, students and families. This strong and loving community makes every day I work here a dream. The students are dedicated and talented and always a joy to teach. 

Everyday I am blessed to enjoy physical education with all our students; their passion and energy is contagious. Our staff is also passionate about helping students grow and find continued successes, and I am thrilled to be part of this journey. 

DIS really is a fantastic school and thoroughly deserves a lot more praise and celebrations. This is only possible due to the supportive, caring and dedicated faculty, staff, students and families. Thank you everyone!
